Back Soon

Just to let you know that I am away to stay with my Mom in sunny Wolverhampton for a week from tomorrow so there will be no blog entries next week. I have been a bit slack with it all lately so hopefully this trip will give me time and space to get motivated for when I am back. I am also hoping to be coming back with some treasures as I have a week of thrifting ahead of me (my addiction started early going round second hand shops with my mom).

A few things

Its been a while since I visited the second shops of Holywood, not far from me. Its usually a great place to pick up fabric. Unfortunately it wasn't to be today and there were no real finds. But I did pick up a few books for Emily, the Busy Wheels book is lovely - a felt embroidered story with vintage buttons for wheels, it makes me want to go buy felt right now, and you can't go wrong with an old wooden abacus. I just love all wooden toys.

Maybe next time my fabric finds will be waiting for me...

Its ok

Just thought I would update you on Baby Bird. When Emily woke up later on today, I took her out to show her the little bird, with the intention of taking it to the local vet. I put the box down next her on the step, took the lid off and it bounded out of the box and flew into the tree at the bottom of our garden. I was so pleased that I managed to help the little bird, as it was destined to be cat food otherwise. A nice end to the day.

Baby Bird

I was sitting eating my lunch today and I saw something fall from the sky just outside my window. I went out and found this poor little fellow with its head wedged inbetween the slats of my bench. I sat for a while with it in my hand to see if it would try to take off again, but it just sat there all dazed and droopy eyed. I just wanted to cry. It might only be a little bird but its someones baby and that just brings out the mommy in me.

It is now sitting in my garage in a shoe box, waiting for Emily to wake up so that I can take it to the vets (as advised by the USPCA - who I have to say were not as helpful or nice as I thought they would be). There was no way I was going to leave it sitting around waiting to be eaten by the many cats that patrol our street. I can't wait to see Em's face when she sees it.

I need to get organised

Just a quick post because although it only seems like i posted yesterday, it was actually two weeks ago! Where does the time go? There seems to be a million things buzzing around my head at the moment, sometimes I think that is why I don't get anything done. Too much to think about and not enough focus. Also I was away in Donegal last week so that put me way behind on everything (not that I need an excuse!).

I am now not allowed to say 'I need to get my website finished' in the house anymore and I am instructed to just do it instead of talking about it! So true. I have been putting it off for so long and having this blog has kinda made me lazy. But it would be good to have somewhere for my portfolio and stuff. How can I motivate myself to get it sorted...hmmm...I am thinking out loud..this is a bad sign..

I am only really working on the mural at the moment, which is coming along well. Its hard to take pictures in the room because it is so narrow and its hard to get the right lighting to see the pencil sketch, but hopefully with paint it will be easier. The good news is that the BBC are interested in doing a community piece on it, so that's pretty exciting and there is a CS Lewis festival happening around December when the films out, so hopefully we can get some more publicity organised. Fingers crossed.

Otherwise I need to do as Elvis says 'A little less conversation a little more action!'
