Secret Santa

surprisesanta.jpg

I came home from a friends yesterday to this wonderful surprise from Caroline. I am so chuffed to have received one of her wonderful hand printed cards and her carefully crafted sparkly star decorations - which I have been secretly coveting! Thank you so much Caroline, it was so such a lovely surprise and was very thoughtful of you, it really did make my day.

A few of my friends and I also managed to fit in a last minute Secret Santa this year too. We set a £5 budget (or thereabouts) and just meet up, drink mulled wine and randomly exchange gifts. Two people are not even in this country so we have to send on the gifts later. I am really pleased with my secret santa which was a copy of Mrs Beetons Christmas and a lovely choccy santa! Every year we talk about doing a midsummer secret santa cause we love it so much and its so much fun!

If I don't get blogging in the next couple of days I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Eat, drink, be merry and above all take it easy! x

I Made Something At Last!

I finally managed to reach one of my goals and make Emily and Harrison christmas stockings! It felt so great to be making something again - it seems so long since I was even in the slightest bit creative. I really wanted to get these made and wasn't sure if I would ever manage it with Harrisons marathon feeding sessions. So I decided just to keep it really simple and pretty much threw this together, so as not to create any unnecessary stress and also make my goal realistic. I am really pleased with how they turned out and for once I don't care about any of the wonkiness or the fact that they are a bit rough around the edges.

Just so you know I didn't make the birdy but I thought I would share it with you since I think it is just lovely! I am so pleased that I came across this because I tried to buy one of Donna's lovely creations but she didn't have any spare unfortunately - I have to say hers are much nicer but at least I have a little birdy of my own.

Santa Comes Early

new-scales.jpg

I haven't baked anything for ages. One reason is that my really cheap scales finally broke a few months ago and secondly I simply haven't had the time or energy. So yesterday I treated myself to these lovely new baby blue scales. I have wanted some of these for ages and finally bought some.

I didn't do any baking as such but it did inspire me to spend some much needed crafty time with Emily making salt dough decorations. I have never made salt dough before so it was good to finally give it a go and Emily had a ball! We painted them with some left over china paint and later on we glued buttons and I attached some embroidery thread to hang them. By this stage the battery was dead on the camera and I couldn't be bothered waiting to photograph the final result!

It felt great doing something creative with Emily. Just have to build up to working on my own projects. I have bought felt for the stockings by the way but am still waiting for a moment to make them!

Lovely Hat

hatforh.jpg

Sally knitted this wonderful hat for Harrison! Isn't it just great? Just look at those pom poms they are incredible!! Unfortunately my little man just wouldn't keep still for the photo and kept wriggling away, but I had to show the photo anyway. As for pom poms check out her blog and see the great little hats she has knitted for the christmas table! Her nan even knitted little hats for the Innocent smoothies - how cool is that?

Couldn't help but show you our tired little teddy bear in action, so here is another pic.
