Supper Club - The Irish Night

Finally I am tying up some loose ends, including putting together the recipes from our last supper club meeting (which was over a month ago!). At least this is a positive sign that I am starting to get back on form.

However, because it was so long ago I have misplaced a couple of the recipes, which I have had to leave out. As soon as I get these again I will redo the sheet and update it, for now, if you are interested in downloading a PDF of some scrummy Irish recipes just click here.

The next meeting is this Friday and the theme is 'Moroccan'. I am really looking forward to this one. But I have this sneaky feeling that there will be lots of dishes the same! I don't have any Moroccan recipes myself so I am trusting good old Google to help me this time. It will be interesting to see how this one goes!

Chocolate Guiness Brownie Cake

guinesscake.jpg

In celebration of St Patrick's day we are holding the second Supper Club meeting tonight. I am designated to make a pudding this time and let me tell you, it wasn't an easy task coming up with an Irish dessert. I asked lots of people what they considered as typically Irish and most came up with apple based desserts. I was set on doing baked apple when I came across a recipe for chocolate Guiness brownies. How could I resist?!

I didn't have the right size baking tray so I have ended up with a round brownie cake instead! I will be serving it with Maud's (Irish) mint ice-cream. Yum! Decorated with a few shamrocks just to top it off (although have to remember not to eat these!).

Supper Club - The Italian Night

supper-club-head.jpg

It is almost a week since our first Supper Club meeting. This week has flown by and was full of things to do and places to go, which is why I am only posting about this now!

The first meeting had an Italian theme and went really well. We all had a great night, with lots of great food, wine and even some end of night Bellini's! The logistics of people turning up with food to heat or prepare was certainly interesting and something which will hopefully get better as time goes on. Especially as only half of the intended people were able to make it! It was great way to try a variety of dishes, especially ones that I wouldn't think of making, like Jenny's risotto or Susan's summer fruit pudding.

I have put together a bulletin, which includes all the details of the recipes including where they originate from or what they were inspired by. Its available here as a PDF, so if you download it and make any of the dishes let me know how it goes, I would be really interested to know.

The next meeting is scheduled for the 18th March and as it is St.Patrick's day on the 17th we figured we would have to make it an Irish night!

Supper Club

Tonight is going to be the first of a monthly Supper Club. I have been meaning to start this for a long time but have just not got around to it, so I am quite excited that it is finally here.

The basis of the Supper Club is a bunch of people getting together round someone's house (mine tonight), with each person bringing a dish made to a particular theme - tonight's theme being Italian. A couple of people have been designated as dessert makers so that we get to sample something sweet!

Each person will also be bringing the recipe for their dish and where its from ie: a particular cookbook or a hand-me-down recipe from granny! Then I will compile them each month according to their theme, distribute them to the club members and put them online to download.

We also intend to drink lots of wine tonight and possibly even cocktails so it may be after the weekend before I report on the nights success!
